About

Why choose me?

Outwardly things may look fine. Perhaps you function well at work, carry significant responsibility, yet feel confused, unfulfilled, inauthentic or exhausted?

Or you find yourself over-accommodating in relationships, or repeating patterns that leave you feeling unseen, unvalued or despairing?

I work with adults experiencing:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Relationship and attachment difficulties

  • Shame and low mood

  • Long-standing emotional patterns rooted in childhood

My approach combines talking therapy with somatic awareness — paying attention not only to thoughts and feelings, but also to how experience is held in the body.

I am a BACP-registered counsellor offering in-person psychotherapy in York (YO19) and online across the UK and in Jersey. I am committed to ongoing professional development and am currently undertaking a six-year UKCP-accredited training in Body Psychotherapy at the Cambridge Body Psychotherapy Centre.

Psychotherapy Services in York, Jersey & Online

Who is therapy for?

Therapy for Capable, Thoughtful Adults

I often work with people who:

  • Want to understand themselves and their relationships better

  • Manage well on the outside but struggle privately

  • Experience chronic stress or physical tension

  • Find it difficult to switch off

  • Live in their head

  • Self-criticise

  • Are questioning whether they are on the right path

Relationship & Attachment Informed Therapy

You may notice recurring relational patterns:

  • Attracting emotionally unavailable partners

  • Over-accommodating or bending yourself out of shape to maintain relationships

  • Fear of conflict or abandonment

  • Intense emotional reactions that feel disproportionate

  • Losing touch with yourself

  • Unable to maintain boundaries

Therapy can help you understand how earlier experiences shape present relationships and create space for change and self acceptance.

Enhancing and Supporting Recovery

Therapy Informed by 12-Step Recovery

I have a strong understanding of 12-Step recovery programmes including AA, OA,

Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families and Al-Anon.

Therapy can support recovery by exploring:

  • Shame

  • Attachment wounds

  • Boundaries

  • Emotional regulation

  • Identity

How Would We Work Together?

Sessions are collaborative and paced according to what feels manageable and safe.

Therapy is tailored to your needs and can range from an open exploration to a more targeted approach.

It can also range from a time limited number of sessions to a relationship spanning several years.

We would pay attention not only to what is said, but also to how difficulties are experienced physically in the present moment.

This can be particularly helpful for clients who feel they have “talked about things before” but still struggle to shift long-held patterns.

Sessions are predominantly talking-based. Where appropriate, I may suggest gentle body-focused awareness exercises.
